Every company is being told to adopt the new models, and fast. But which tools to use is a question with no right answer. Everyone has an opinion, the best choice changes every few weeks, and nobody can tell you the right mix.

The better move is one level up. Whichever tools win, what lasts is your data. Collect more of it, keep it where you control it, and set it up so any model can work from all of it. Then you’re free to add, drop, or combine tools and models as better ones come along, and switching never means starting over.

We’d talk through the whole field, where you stand in it, and a good first step. After that, whenever a question comes up, just ask. Mostly it’s companies, but it works just as well for one person.

This technology has been all I’ve done for over a year, much of it in San Francisco among friends deep in machine learning, robotics, biotech, defence, and macro investing. Alexandria came out of it, the same idea for a person’s own data.
